Big
Al's Diner
Serving down-home good cookin'
Throughout
their some 133-year history, diners are reminisce of
a timeless American icon, a place known for generous
helpings of home-style food in a welcoming atmosphere.
The definition of a diner according to Webster's Dictionary
is "a restaurant usually resembling a railroad
car in shape." However, with Big Al's Diner this
will not be the case. Planning on opening sometime after
July 6th in the
old
Denny's restaurant in Blaine, Big Al's will be serving
up tasty classic
diner comfort food without the nostalgic diner car. But
it's what is inside that will count, both in the quality
of
down-home cookin' and that old-time diner friendly service,
where everyone seems to knows each other, even if you're
just passing through town.
Satisfying the loyal following!
Owners, Al and Terry Holub have been serving their comfort
food to satisfying customers for over 27 years. Having
owned and successfully operated Kay's Cafe in California,
Al and Terry decided to follow their dreams and move
to western Washington. Kay's Cafe had a loyal following
that 'was much like a community meeting place,
everyone knew each other and could get a great tasty
meal', said Al. Even on vacation, people would recognize
Al
and Terry
and sing the praise of Kay's Cafe. During the renovation
of the restaurant here in Blaine, people would come up
knowing
them from Kay's Cafe in California. So now, Al and Terry
will be building that loyal following again with Big
Al's Diner,
doing what they always did best and doing it here too!
Al says 'he's a lucky guy to wake up every morning
and go do what he
loves doing most', serving real great tasting diner food.
'Definitely not the greasy-spoon food here, just plain
and simple, delicious
comfort food served with that down-home friendly service',
says Al.
Only the Best at Big Al's Diner!
Al is known for making the best, homemade blueberry pancakes,
biscuit and gravy that by the way, he is known to sell
out of, and makes his very own Corn Beef Hash. And
for dessert, he bakes his own pies! Simply put, Al believes
in taking the time in the preparation of all of his
dishes, using only the finest ingredients.
'I
care more about the flavor, not the price in preparing
my food', says Al.
Not for the meager eaters!
Big Al's Diner will have something for every taste and
pocketbook. Al believes in serving large portions at
a popular fare. Breakfast will be served all day starting
at 6 in the morning Monday through Saturday and 7
am on Sundays. So, you better come hungry and try
to leave some room for dessert. And just like traditional
diners, you can
get chocolate and vanilla shakes, root beer floats and
pie a la mode. Now, if you're looking for generous
helpings
of great tasting home-style cookin' in a welcoming family
atmosphere, we'll see you at Big Al's Diner in Blaine!
