A NEW wine style for the lineup at Dakota Creek Winery
2007 Dessert Riesling
This elegant Dessert Riesling from Washington’s Wahluke Slope boasts brisk natural acidity balanced with 12% residual sugar. The wine’s zesty lemon-lime and peach flavors are accompanied by just the right sweetness to carry the flavors through a long, pleasant finish. This wine drinks well by itself, but if paring with food, the rule of thumb is the dessert wine should be sweeter than the dessert. We would recommend serving with mild cheese and fruit wedges. The official release date for this wine is November 1, 2008 but if you stop by Dakota Creek Winery after October 15th, we will have a pre-release supply available.
The 2008 Grape Crush
Several new varietals for Dakota Creek
As we take a moment out to write to you, we are well into the 2008 grape harvest. The chemistry of the grapes looks very good this year and the flavors are exceptionally well developed. The cool spring had us all anxious, but then a nice bit of heat in the late summer really put the concern to rest. Once again, the stage is set for some outstanding Washington Wines!
Our 2008 Grape harvest includes:

Merlot – 6076 lbs from Elephant Mountain Vineyard
Syrah – 6566 lbs from Elephant Mountain Vineyard
Dolcetto – 1612 lbs from Sugarloaf Vineyard

Malbec – 1894 lbs from Elephant Mountain & Sugarloaf Vineyards

Cabernet Franc – 450 lbs from Sugarloaf Vineyard
Viognier – 2975 lbs from Elephant Mountain Vineyard
Still to be harvested:
