Booming Skylarks Closing to Double Kitchen Space

13 year-old Fairhaven favorite, Skylark’s Cafe and Wine Bar plans to close February 18th and re-open March 3rd with a brand new kitchen.  Owner, Don White says that although they were getting by with the old kitchen after adding the Wine Bar space in 2005, the business increased quickly and the addition of the outdoor tables in the summer really put a strain on the existing facility.

“People had to wait a little longer than I wanted this summer”, said White. Our food isn’t fast food to begin with, and lack of space just slowed us down. I truly underestimated Skylark's potential as a dinner house when I remodeled last time. I don't want guests to have to wait for their food just because we have a small kitchen.”

With twice the cooking equipment and all new refrigeration, the main "Line Kitchen" will be expanding from  225 sq. ft to about 500 sq ft., converting half the lower part of the restaurant to kitchen space by removing 3 small booths.  In addition, the prep- kitchen will get new flooring.  they will be refinishing the hardwood dining floors, and expand the handicap restroom during the closure.

“I'm not going to rush this time because I want to have everything finished so my staff and I can concentrate on serving our guests when we reopen. I feel like I have been under construction continuously since the last time and don't want to run my business like that anymore.”

Plans St. Patrick's Day Grand Re-Opening!
Skylark's will be open for Valentine's day & weekend then closed until sometime in early March. St. Patrick's day will be their grand reopening party. St. Patrick's is one of our busiest days of the year and this year White plans to double the corned beef (300 lb) order.

“ Skylark's is going to be totally ready to rock and roll for summer and into the future.”

Skylark’s is open 7 days a week at 7:00 am with dine-in or Take-out orders for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cafe is located at 1308 11th Street, bordering both the street in front and the cobblestone walkway behind.
